Cookie policy
We try to set as few cookies as we can. Below is everything we use, why we use it, and how to change your mind.
Strictly necessary (always on)
Required to make the site work. We can’t turn these off and you don’t need to consent to them under EU (GDPR / RGPD) rules.
- Session token — if you sign in, an HttpOnly cookie keeps you logged in across page loads.
- Locale + theme preference — remembers your selected language and light/dark mode between visits.
- matriculix_consent — stores your choices on this page so we don’t prompt you every visit. 12-month lifespan, no personal data inside it.
- Rate-limit + CSRF tokens — protects the site from abuse. Per-request, short-lived.
Analytics (consent required)
Used only if you accept analytics. Helps us see which pages and tools visitors use so we know where to improve.
- Google Analytics 4 —
_ga,_ga_*. Anonymised IP. We don’t link analytics data to any individual user or account.
We have configured GA in Consent Mode v2: if you reject analytics, the GA script does not load at all and no measurement requests leave your browser.
Advertising (consent required)
Used only if you accept advertising. Advertising on general guide content helps fund the service.
- Google AdSense —
__gads,__gpi,IDE(third-party). Used to serve and measure ads.
Reject advertising and the AdSense script is never loaded.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends the Sec-GPC signal (Firefox, Brave, DuckDuckGo, some Chrome extensions), we treat it as a request to reject non-essential cookies. You won’t see the banner; we just don’t load analytics or advertising. You can still open the preferences below to change your mind.
What we don’t do
- We don’t set cross-site tracking pixels, fingerprinting scripts, or session-replay tools.
- We don’t share your case or contact data with advertisers. Your case details are used only to run your legalisation.
- We don’t pre-tick consent boxes. Every category starts off until you opt in.

You can also clear all Matriculix cookies by deleting matriculix.com data in your browser settings — the banner will then reappear on your next visit.
Audit + transparency
Each consent decision (timestamp + which categories) is logged server-side so we can show, if asked, that we have a record of your choice. No personal data is stored alongside the decision.
