About Matriculix

Importing a car into Portugal and getting it onto Portuguese plates means a chain of steps — DAV (customs declaration), ISV (the vehicle tax), the matrícula attribution, registo automóvel, inspection (IPO) and number plates. Matriculix is the tool and guide that prepares the documents, the data and the ISV calculation and runs and tracks the workflow; under a signed procuração you appoint the partner lawyer as your representative, who holds the procuração and acts before the authorities on your behalf.

Why Matriculix exists

People legalising an EU car in Portugal face the same problems everywhere: unclear costs, opaque timelines, and intermediaries who quote one number and invoice another. The ISV alone is hard to estimate without knowing the exact CO₂, displacement and registration date the tables key off.

Matriculix is our attempt at an honest fix. The ISV calculator gives you an estimate from the current statutory tables before you commit to anything. The service is one fixed fee of €399; state fees (ISV, registo, inspection, plates) are passed through to you at cost — we don’t mark them up. You sign a procuração to the partner lawyer, we prepare and coordinate while the partner lawyer files, and you can follow the case from DAV to matrícula in your account.

What Matriculix is

• The tool and guide that prepares the documents, the data and the ISV calculation and runs and tracks the workflow — the customer’s designated representative is the partner lawyer, who holds a wet-ink procuração with notarial signature recognition.
• Credentialed to prepare submissions under its own NIF — the partner lawyer files before the authorities under your procuração, doing the regulated work.
• Legally accountable for errors directly attributable to us in preparing the documents, the data and the ISV calculation and in coordinating the process, backed by professional indemnity insurance.
• Transparent on price: one fixed service fee, state fees passed through at cost.

What Matriculix is not

• Not a despachante oficial. The regulated steps are carried out by the partner lawyer, your designated representative under the procuração.
• Not a lawyer. We don’t give legal or tax advice — we prepare the documents, the data and the ISV calculation and coordinate the process; the partner lawyer acts under the procuração.
• Not your mandatária or representative. Your designated representative is the partner lawyer, who holds the procuração and acts before AT, IMT and IRN.
• Not able to control the authorities’ timing. We can commit to our own filing cadence, but AT, IMT, IRN and AIMA response times are outside our control.
• Not a statutory transferee of your liability. Our accountability is contractual, backed by insurance — never a transfer of your legal obligations.
